The Detroit School System did not have enough books, typewriters, etc. for their students in the 60s and 70s. I left the state, too late, the damage had been done from the crappie school system. My child had to work real hard to catch up with his new Mississippi system! Makes you wonder dosen't it? A school system with a black Supt. and mostly black teachers, and ignorant (not in a ugly way)parents who did not know what to do about it and still don't.
