Your Black World: Mainstream News Coverage Of John Edwards Sex Scandal Obscures Black Issues

While the fascistic, imperialistic, complacent, co-opted, cooperate-owned, self-absorbed, unsatisfactory, and uneducated Mainstream Media was fawning - relentlessly and endlessly - over the scandal of John Edwards, the realities that plague Black, Brown and Native American communities were intentionally sidelined. For three consecutive hours today, there was a painful-obsession over the discovery that John Edwards had - in an interview with ABC News - admitted to an extramarital affair with a female who once worked on his many presidential campaign bids. This phenomenon of neglecting critical Black and Brown issues for frivolous scandals is of course, not rare, or by any means a figment of imagination. The truth is that, Black pain has never been viewed upon as legitimate or equatable with White grief or suffering, and this afternoon, the actions of CNN, MSNBC and FOX News furthermore reinforce that reality. Below is a compiled list of 10 events or incidents, which have surfaced within the last 12 hrs, that in an ideal society - with an accountable and responsible press - would be perceived as worthy of coverage:
