Clintons Accused of Degrading Barack Obama and Martin Luther King

Hillary Clinton has drawn a tremendous amount of criticism for remarks she recently made about the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. During an interview on Fox News, a network that has been frozen out by Senator Barack Obama, Clinton was accused of giving President Lyndon B. Johnson more credit for advancing Civil Rights than Martin Luther King, Jr.

“I would point to the fact that Dr. King's dream began to be realized when President Lyndon Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, when he was able to get through Congress something that President Kennedy was hopeful to do, the president before had not even tried, but it took a president to get it done,” she said, in response to a question about how her dismissive attitude toward Obama’s “false hopes” would have applied to the civil rights movement. “That dream became a reality, the power of that dream became real in peoples lives because we had a president who said we are going to do it, and actually got it accomplished.”

Clinton's statements were a double-whammy to comments made by her husband, Bill Clinton. Mr. Clinton referred to the Obama campaign as "The biggest fairytale I've ever seen."

Many have considered the comments by the Clintons to be degrading and reflective of the fact that the Clintons feel that black people cannot have their dreams realized without the permission of white leaders.

Rep. Jim Clyburn, the most powerful black congressional leader in America, issued a statment expressing his disappointment with Sen. Clinton's words. Also, Donna Brazile, a prominent Democratic strategist, also expressed disappointment.

"For him to go after Obama using 'fairy tale', calling him a kid, is an insult," she said. "As an African-American, I find his words and his tone very depressing."

The Clintons have been working overtime to engage in damage control, doing radio interviews, including one with Rev. Al Sharpton. But the damage appears to be done, as many have begun to question the Clinton commitment to African-Amercans.

This is terrible. It shows what the Clintons stand for. They never cared about black people, they only used us for our votes.

People are just trying to go against Clinton. I heard what she said. She was historically right. MLK had a dream, but it took LBJ (a bulldog who had Congressional experience) to push the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Voting Rights Act of 1965 to passage. Even JFK spoke of the dream in his June 11, 1963 but could not get it accomplished because he was assasinated 4 months later. Black America needs to realize that the Confederate South is not going to let a black man stay president of the U.S. Just because you see a black man, don't get caught up in the hype. Ron Paul, who is a bonafide racist, stated that he was friends with MLK and Rosa Parks. Give me a break. If you don't like her, then you don't like Clinton. But don't misconstrue what she said into a racist jab because that is not what she said. She historically stated what really happened.

Give me a break! White people always want to think that the reason we got anything done is because they were nice enough to let it happen. They do that same shit in every movie, where the white hero always saves the black side kick. Tom Brady got the NFL MVP even though Randy Moss was the reason he got so much better. It's the same old stuff, and the Clintons are buying right into it.

If Hillary wants our votes, she needs to stop running her mouth to fox news and allowing them to force her to say things that are going to degrade black people.

The Clintons are nice people, but they seem to act like they are the parents of black people. I will be supporting a real black man thankyou, and not a white man who has the audacity to call himself the first black president.

As a pastor, I am glad that black people are starting to see the flaws in the Clinton slave mentality. I preach that men should follow their conscience and not be led by others. All the while, Hillary Clinton followed George Bush to war, with this war killing a whole lot of poor black kids. That really hurts my heart.
