There’s normal-crazy; then, there’s crazy-crazy.

Damel Burton killed his girlfriend’s son, 18-year-old Keith Murrell, in their apartment, then opened fire on a Queens bus, killing another man.

"The defendant stated that he would have shot more people but the gun jammed," said prosecutor Suzanne O'Hare said in Queens Criminal Court during Burton’s arraignment.

According to court papers, Burton was carrying a 9-mm Ruger pistol with four rounds in it; an extra nine rounds were ready for use when he was captured Friday.

"I didn't know he had a gun," said Sheena Tucker, the victim’s mother, who wasn't home during the incident." It was out of the blue. I don't know where he came up with doing this."

His other victims were Marvin Gilkes, 36, and Jojuan Lipsey, 29. Gilkes died and Lipsey, whose brain is swollen, is surviving with the aid of a breathing tube.

According to NY Daily News:

“Burton was released on parole in August 2010 after serving seven years for attempted robbery. He has six prior arrests, officials said. He served a year in prison starting in 2000, records show, for drug dealing and weapon possession.”

Charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder, Burton is being held without bail. He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.

Now this is a perfect case that he needs to be locked for the rest of his natural life. He is obviously a threat to the public.
