President Obama and Daughters Support Small Business Saturday

image

Your Black Politics reports:

President Barack Obama took his daughters out for some Daddy and me time Saturday afternoon to support small businesses.

Malia and Sasha received a valuable lesson in community and supporting mom-and-pop shops to jump start the economy; the Commander-in-Chief and his two favorite girls browsed and smiled down the aisles of a small bookstore a few blocks away from the White House.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving is known as “Small Business Saturday” and patrons are encouraged to spend money in their communities. It’s an admirable effort to level the playing field after the mayhem that is Black Friday --- when large department stores and large retailers spawn violence across the country as people turn into animals trying to catch sales.

The Obama girls bought a blend of the whimsical and historical, leaving the bookstore with: “The Invention of Hugo Cabret,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever” and “Descent into Chaos: The U.S. and the Disaster in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Central Asia.”
