Hill's App Puts Black History in the Palm of Your Hand

Retha Hill, director of the New Media Innovation Lab at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz, has created a mobile smartphone app that allows users to access Black History on the go. The Mobile Black History Project - available on iOS and Android devices - uses Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to provide information about sites significant to Black History in several major U.S. cities.

To access the app download the Layar browser, and then search for 'black history.' The app currently accesses information for Washington, DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Phoenix and New Orleans among others.

A dedicated iPhone app is in development.
